Spring Illness

I woke up later than I should have today. Is this an effect of Daylight Savings Time? I'm seeing a concert tonight and staying downtown so I had to run around packing a bag because I couldn't be bothered to do this last night. Breakfast consisted of two pieces of toast chewed furiously. My walk usually takes about 13 minutes but since I was late, I ran a block here and there, on an empty stomach, with my heavy-soled shoes royally fucking up my ankles with each pounding step. I never learned how to cradle my foot as I ran. Or I did, but not in these heavy shoes. I got to the train station in the nick of time to wish Liz Asperger luck in the election tomorrow and to say that I'm voting for her. I didn't pick up my monthly -- there wasn't time! -- so I to pay the extortion that is buying your one-way ticket onboard. I felt physically ill. I don't like to run, and I run poorly. I'm out of shape and running a block leaves me winded. I didn't eat much and so I also felt weak. And then suddenly I needed to take a shit. It was a strange feeling. Sick like how you feel when you have the flu and you know that throwing up will make you feel better. I felt like throwing up and shitting at the same time, but I wasn't sure if I could once I had the chance. It was a slight constipation. When I sat differently, it was gone. I don't understand my body. It speaks Russian. Maybe I should silently yell out "Nyet!!" It took my entire weakened will to act as if I was fine, especially not to freak out my seatmate. Bad idea not sitting upstairs. Sidenote: Getting a pressure erection while constipated is painful. When we got to the station, and I disembarked I was surrounded by people that I would have loved to throw onto the tracks. Ignorant people who take their time and roll their backpacks because they have wheels. I hate with every fiber -- no pun intended -- people who buy and use rolling backpacks as their briefcases. Damn them all to hell! Once I got inside the station and was making my way to the stairs to get to the bathroom at work, I began to feel fine, albeit hungry. I decided since my more immediate need was now food -- it's amazing what can happen in one second -- I would go to Jamba Juice and get some sustenance. My order was a Mango A-Go-Go (I HATE the name, but love the drink) with fiber and a Multi-Boost. I seemingly didn't have the emergency I thought I did, but will at some point today -- I ingested enough fiber for two or three days. I get to work and Danette/Sharise is eating what smells like fish food. Every time I get a waft of air from that direction I dry-heave. They just turned the heat on and it smells like a burning hot-plate and feels like a sauna. It's not exactly warm enough for air conditioning but its definitely not cold enough for heat. Not a good morning.

I didn't realize that tonight was the NCAA Championship two months ago when I bought tickets to the Ray LaMontagne show. Drat! I'm recording the game but it won't be the same, whatever happens. I won't live and die with millions of Illini fans like I did this season and especially with the last two games. Hope the concert is as phenomenal as the last one.

We finished filming on "Flare Gun" this weekend in Iowa City. I realize I haven't mentioned it yet in the blog, so I'll truncate. We started filming three weekends ago in Naperville and LaGrange and finished yesterday in I.C. The first three days of filming were very cold and the last two were beautiful. Matt is working on the editing, probably through the night. He wants to get it done; he's extremely excited, as we all are. It was a really great time, filming, and it has spurred me to have more ideas on writing something of my own. I have some little pieces in my head; I just have to put them together and add water. I.C. was very enjoyable. Perfect weather, great people, great times. I turned them all on to the departed Mitch Hedberg, and in typical obsessive fashion, we spent around three hours on his material. I think Marissa died laughing. What a genius! "Popsicles are for summertime. All right." I've gotta go pick up one of his CDs.

I really loved the footage that Matt had already edited. It is so impressive and it's really exciting. I'm glad I got to be a part of it. Eric kept thanking me, telling me it was great I helped Matt out. Made me laugh.

In leiu of a wrap party, we were talking about taking a weekend trip this summer sometime and going to Noah's Ark in the Dells. I'm so in on that action. Summer Jeff is awakened!

Gotta go; this conference call I'm on is almost over and I have to start doing actual work. My cube is a mess. I'm having lunch with John today at the Billy Goat so that will be good.
